Facebook is reportedly testing a feature that will recommend posts from businesses in users’ News Feeds. Facebok says the feature aims to help users discover new businesses they might not have discovered on their own.
With the update, Facebook will insert a selection of thumbnail previews of posts from businesses that haven’t yet been followed. The thumbnail will appear directly below the post from the business page and will cover a similar topic.
For example, a restaurant post might recommend a post from another restaurant in the user area or a beauty brand might point to a similar company.
Facebook said it originally planned to test the feature in the United States, but plans to expand those efforts.
Reported by detiKINET from Engadget , Friday (16/4/2021) this test was carried out as Facebook was preparing for the iOS 14 update which would make it more difficult for companies to track users. Facebook has previously warned Apple that the changes will hurt small businesses that rely on its ads.
Recommending posts from similar businesses to ones users already follow can help Facebook give those companies visibility without ad tracking.
Facebook announced the testing as part of a larger update for businesses. In addition to the new recommendations, Facebook is also expanding the availability of its new page designs and making it easier for business owners to draft, schedule, and publish posts from their accounts.
